WebP to JPG Converter

xFormat.space converts WebP images to widely compatible JPG files right in your browser, with adjustable quality and no upload to any server.

Runs in your browser — files never leave your device.

How it works

Saved a picture from a website and found out it is a .webp that your editor, slide deck or job portal will not open? Convert it to JPG here. The file is decoded and re-encoded locally on your device, so nothing is uploaded.

  1. 1

Drop your WebP files onto the page, or tap to select them.

  2. 2

Choose JPG as the output format and set the quality.

  3. 3

Click Start Conversion and download your JPG files.

Why WebP files cause trouble

WebP is a modern format that websites use to keep pages light, so images you save from the web often arrive as WebP. Current browsers display it without any trouble, but plenty of older desktop software, email templates, print services and upload forms only accept JPG or PNG. Converting to JPG is the quickest way around that.

Details that matter for WebP specifically

WebP can carry transparency. JPG cannot, so transparent areas are filled with white during conversion. If the transparent logo you saved is going onto a colored background, convert to PNG instead.

Animated WebP files are exported as one still frame. Quality-wise, the WebP was already compressed, so converting to JPG adds a second lossy step; a quality around 90% or above keeps the loss hard to see. Pixel dimensions are unchanged, and expect the JPG to be somewhat larger than the WebP it came from, since WebP is generally the more efficient format.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a WebP image to JPG?

Drop the WebP file onto this page, pick JPG as the output format, click Start Conversion and download the result. It all happens in your browser.

Why can't I open or upload my WebP file?

Some older apps and many upload forms only recognize JPG and PNG. Converting the WebP to JPG makes it compatible with them.

Is a JPG larger than the WebP it came from?

Usually somewhat larger at similar visual quality, because WebP generally compresses more efficiently. Lowering the quality slider trims the size.

Does WebP to JPG keep transparency?

No. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas turn white. Choose PNG if you need to keep it.

Are my WebP files uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion runs locally in your browser. There is no upload, no account and no watermark.
