PNG to JPG Converter
xFormat.space converts PNG images to JPG directly in your browser, filling any transparency with white and letting you set the JPG quality, without uploading your files anywhere.
Runs in your browser — files never leave your device.
How it works
Turn heavy PNG screenshots and exports into lighter JPG files that every app, email client and upload form accepts. The conversion happens locally on your device, so private screenshots stay private. Pick the quality, convert, download.
- 1
Drop one or more PNG files onto the page.
- 2
Select JPG as the output format and set the quality (the default is 92%).
- 3
Click Start Conversion and download your JPG files.
What happens to transparency
JPG has no alpha channel, so a PNG with a transparent background has to become something solid. This tool paints a white background first and then draws your image on top, which means transparent areas turn white, not black. If the picture is going onto a dark page, the white box will show, so keep the PNG for that use.
When PNG to JPG is worth it
PNG stores every pixel exactly, which is wasteful for photographs and gradients. A photo exported as PNG is often several times larger than the same photo as JPG, and that matters for email attachments, CMS upload limits and page weight. Flat graphics are different: text, thin lines and logos can show fuzzy halos around edges after JPG compression, so raise the quality or leave those as PNG.
A quality of 80 to 92% is a reasonable starting range for photos. Check the result at full size before deleting the original, because JPG compression cannot be undone.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to a transparent PNG when I convert it to JPG?
The transparent areas are filled with solid white. JPG cannot store transparency, so there is no way to keep it in this format.
Does converting PNG to JPG lose quality?
Yes, slightly. JPG is lossy, so some fine detail is discarded. At high quality settings the difference is hard to see in photos, but it can show around sharp text and edges.
Is this PNG to JPG converter really free and private?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, adds no watermark, and runs entirely in your browser, so your PNG files are never uploaded.
Can I convert several PNG files to JPG at once?
Yes. Add multiple PNGs, convert them in one go, and use Download All to save every JPG.
Why is my JPG sometimes not much smaller than the PNG?
Small or flat images, like icons and simple graphics, are already compact as PNG. The big savings come from photos and detailed screenshots.
