Privacy Policy

The short version

xFormat.space is designed so that we never need your files. Conversion, compression, editing and OCR all happen inside your browser, on your own device. Your files are not uploaded to our servers or to anyone else's. There are no accounts, and we do not ask for personal information.

Your files

When you choose a file, your browser reads it and the code on the page processes it in memory. The result is returned to you as a download. We run no server that receives files, so we cannot see, keep or recover them. Closing the tab discards everything.

Network requests the site makes

• The site: pages are static files delivered through a global content delivery network (CDN). Like any web host, our hosting provider may log technical request data such as IP address and browser type for security and operations.
• Processing components: the first time you use a tool that needs one, your browser downloads it from a public CDN. This covers the compatibility engine for older video and audio formats, and the engine and recognition model used for text recognition (OCR). Only public software files are requested; your own files are never part of these requests. These CDNs are operated by third parties, may serve files from other countries and, like any server, can see your IP address and browser type.
• Fonts are bundled with the site, so no request is made to an external font service.

Analytics

When configured, we use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and understand which tools are useful (approximate location, device and browser type). It uses cookies and sends this usage data to Google. It never receives your files or file names.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and ad storage are denied by default (Google Consent Mode). You can also block analytics with your browser settings or Google's opt-out add-on.

Advertising

When enabled, we show ads served by Google AdSense, which helps keep the tools free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising and learn more using the links below. Ads never use the contents of your files, because we never receive them.

Local storage

The site stores two small preferences in your browser's local storage: your theme choice (light or dark) and whether you dismissed the language suggestion banner. They stay on your device, are never sent to us, and can be removed by clearing site data in your browser.

Children's privacy

xFormat.space is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Because we receive no files or accounts, there is nothing for us to collect from a child.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site works in a way that affects privacy, we will update this page and the date above. Please check back from time to time.
