JPG to PNG Converter

xFormat.space converts JPG images to PNG inside your browser, saving them in a lossless format for editing without ever uploading your photos to a server.

Runs in your browser — files never leave your device.

How it works

Need a PNG because a design tool, a sticker app or a form insists on one? Drop in your JPG files and get lossless PNGs back in seconds. Everything is processed locally, so the photos never leave your device.

  1. 1

Drop your JPG files onto the page, or tap to choose them.

  2. 2

Select PNG as the output format.

  3. 3

Click Start Conversion and download the PNGs one by one or all together.

Set expectations: PNG won't restore lost detail

A JPG has already thrown away some information when it was first saved. Converting it to PNG stops any further loss, but it can't bring that detail back, and it won't sharpen a blurry picture or remove JPEG blockiness. Think of PNG here as a safe container for further editing, not a repair.

Expect the file to get bigger, often a lot bigger for photos, because PNG stores every pixel without lossy compression. That is normal.

Good reasons to convert JPG to PNG

Editing is the main one: if you will crop, annotate or re-export the image several times, working from a PNG avoids stacking another round of JPG artifacts at each save. PNG is also what many tools expect for stickers, game assets and UI mockups.

One caveat: the result is fully opaque. JPG never had transparency, so converting does not remove a background. If you need a transparent cutout you will have to do that in an editor afterward.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?

No. It prevents further quality loss from future saves, but it cannot recover detail that the JPG compression already removed.

Why is my PNG so much bigger than the JPG?

PNG is lossless and stores far more data per photo than JPG's lossy compression. A size increase of several times is normal for photographs.

Can I make the background transparent by converting to PNG?

No. The converted PNG has no transparency because the JPG had none. Removing a background needs a separate editing step.

Is it safe to convert private photos here?

Yes. The conversion runs in your browser and the files are not uploaded, so nobody else receives a copy.

Can I convert multiple JPG files to PNG at once?

Yes. Add several files, convert them together, and download them individually or with Download All.
