Merge PDF Files

xFormat.space merges multiple PDFs into a single document in your browser, so your contracts, scans and reports are never uploaded to a server.

Runs in your browser — files never leave your device.

How it works

Add two or more PDFs, drag them into the order you want, and download one combined file. Documents often contain sensitive material, which is why the merge happens locally on your device instead of on someone else's server.

  1. 1

Drop two or more PDF files onto the page.

  2. 2

Drag the files in the list into the order you want them to appear.

  3. 3

Click Merge PDFs and download merged.pdf.

How merging works here

The tool copies the pages from each file, in list order, into a new document and saves it. Pages are carried over as they are, so text stays selectable and searchable, images are not recompressed and quality does not change. The file size of the result is roughly the sum of the inputs.

Before you merge

Put the files in the right order first; the order of the list is the order of the output. If you need only some pages from a file, split it first and merge the pieces.

Password-protected PDFs generally need to be unlocked in the app that created them before they can be merged here. Document-level extras such as bookmarks or form fields are not guaranteed to survive, so check the result if your files rely on them.

Everything is held in your browser's memory while it works, so very large batches depend on your device. If the tab struggles, merge in smaller groups and then merge the results.

Frequently asked questions

How do I combine PDF files into one?

Add the PDFs, drag them into the order you want, and click Merge PDFs. The combined file downloads as merged.pdf.

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. The merge runs in your browser, so your documents stay on your device. There is no sign-up and no watermark.

Can I change the order of the pages before merging?

Yes. Drag the files in the list to reorder them; the output follows that order. To rearrange pages inside one file, split it and merge the parts in the order you want.

Will merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?

No. Pages are copied into the new file without re-rendering or recompressing images, so text stays selectable and quality is unchanged.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

Generally not directly. Remove the password in the application that created the file first, then merge.
