Split PDF into Pages or Ranges
xFormat.space splits a PDF into individual pages or custom page ranges in your browser, so the document is never uploaded to a server.
Runs in your browser — files never leave your device.
How it works
Need pages 3 to 7 of a long report, or every page as its own file? Upload the PDF, choose a mode, and download the pieces. The file is read and cut up locally on your device.
- 1
Drop a PDF onto the page. The tool reads its page count.
- 2
Choose Split by Page for one file per page, or Split by Range and enter start and end pages.
- 3
Click Split PDF and download each piece, or use Download All.
Two ways to split
Split by Page turns an N-page document into N one-page PDFs named split_1-1.pdf, split_2-2.pdf and so on. Split by Range lets you add as many ranges as you want, for example 1 to 3 and 5 to 5, and each range becomes its own PDF named after its pages, like split_1-3.pdf. Ranges are checked against the page count before you can run them.
Practical uses and limits
A range of a single page works as page extraction: set both start and end to that page to pull out one signature page, one invoice or one chapter opener. To drop pages you don't want, create ranges for the parts you keep and merge them back together afterward.
Pages are copied without being re-rendered, so text stays selectable and image quality is unchanged. The results arrive as separate downloads rather than a zip, so a browser may ask permission to download multiple files. Password-protected PDFs generally need to be unlocked first.
Frequently asked questions
How do I extract specific pages from a PDF?
Choose Split by Range, set the start and end page of the pages you want, click Split PDF and download the new file. For a single page, use the same number for both.
Can I split every page into a separate PDF?
Yes. Split by Page creates one PDF per page and lets you download them individually or all at once.
Is my PDF uploaded when I split it?
No. The splitting runs in your browser, so your file stays on your device. There is no sign-up and no watermark.
Does splitting affect the quality of the pages?
No. Pages are copied as they are, without re-rendering or recompressing images, so text and graphics look the same.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Generally not directly. Remove the password in the application that created it first.
