Free Online Image Converter

xFormat.space is a free image converter that turns PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF and BMP files into PNG, JPG or WebP entirely inside your browser, so your pictures are never uploaded to a server.

Runs in your browser — files never leave your device.

How it works

Drop in one image or a whole folder's worth and convert them all to PNG, JPG or WebP in a single pass. Conversion runs on your own device using your browser's built-in image tools, so there is no upload, no account and no watermark. It works the same on a phone as on a desktop.

  1. 1

Drop your images onto the page or tap to pick them. You can add several at once.

  2. 2

Choose the output format (PNG, JPG or WebP). For JPG and WebP, set the quality slider.

  3. 3

Click Start Conversion, then download files one by one or use Download All.

Which output format should you pick?

PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, which makes it the right choice for logos, screenshots and graphics with sharp edges, but photos saved as PNG get large. JPG is the safe default for photographs and opens everywhere, though it has no transparency. WebP is usually smaller than a comparable JPG or PNG and supports transparency; the catch is that some older desktop software and upload forms still reject it.

What conversion changes, and what it doesn't

Images keep their original pixel dimensions. Going to JPG or WebP is lossy, so keep your originals: converting the same file again and again stacks up artifacts. The quality slider only appears for those two formats and defaults to 92%.

Two things to know in advance. Animated GIFs come out as a single still frame, and metadata such as EXIF camera data and GPS location is not carried into the converted file, which is a small privacy bonus.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion happens in your browser tab using your device's memory and processor. Nothing is sent to a server, which is also why it keeps working for large batches without any file-size quota from us.

Which image formats can I convert?

You can load PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF and BMP files and export to PNG, JPG or WebP. Whether an unusual file opens depends on your browser being able to decode it.

Can I convert multiple images at once?

Yes. Add as many images as you like, pick one target format, and convert them together. Each result is listed with its size, and Download All saves them in one click.

Will converting reduce image quality?

Only when the output is JPG or WebP, which are lossy. Converting to PNG does not degrade the image, but it also cannot bring back detail that an earlier JPG save already discarded.

What happens to transparent backgrounds?

PNG and WebP outputs keep transparency. JPG cannot store it, so transparent areas are filled with solid white.
